Thekabarnews.com—The Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian claimed that his country does not wish to conflict with other Muslim countries. He has asked people in the Middle East to work together as tensions grow.
Pezeshkian said in a greeting for Eid al-Fitr and Nowruz, the Iranian New Year on March 21, that Iran sees other Muslim-majority countries as “brothers.” He also said Iran does not wish to fight or go to war with them.
“We would rather not have any problems with Muslim countries. We do not seek conflict or war with Islamic states,” Pezeshkian said, as quoted in the Islamic Republic News Agency.
This declaration comes at a time when things are tense in the area because the US and Israel have been conducting military activities lately.
Pezeshkian stated that both countries were making things worse and making it tougher for other countries in the area to get along. In particular, he said this was happening by escalating tensions. Additionally, they were undermining diplomatic efforts that could lead to peaceful resolutions.
He also indicated that Iran was willing to talk to its neighbors and cooperate with them to find a solution. Moreover, Pezeshkian suggested that Muslim countries should take the initiative to establish a regional security framework. This would ensure long-term peace and stability.
“We do not need strangers in this area. Muslim countries may work together to form a regional Islamic council that will handle politics, culture, the economy, and security, he remarked.
The suggestion indicates how Iran thinks about regional autonomy in general. This is especially true while there is still geopolitical rivalry and foreign military participation.
Pezeshkian emphasized again that Iran does not want to manufacture nuclear weapons because people are worried about nuclear development.
He discussed a fatwa, or religious decree, that the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei wrote. The decree claims building atomic weapons is against the law.
“No one in Iran is allowed to go toward weapons of mass destruction,” he stated.
Pezeshkian stated that even with these pledges, the US still makes it look like Iran is a nuclear threat to the rest of the world.
The US and Israel have made the situation in the Middle East worse since they launched joint attacks on Tehran and other Iranian cities in late February.
Many people were killed in the strikes, including high-ranking military and political leaders, according to reports.
Iran dispatched waves of missiles and drones to attack US facilities and assets in the region and Israeli land in response. As a result, the conflict got worse.
The current tensions could make the whole area less stable, especially if diplomatic efforts to cool things down fail.
Pezeshkian’s most recent comments suggest that Iran is trying to look like it wants to talk to Muslim countries. At the same time, the country is still being harsh on foreign influence.
As the fighting continues on, more and more people are calling for peace and collaboration in the area. Many people are pushing all parties to choose diplomacy over additional fighting.
