Thekabarnews.com—The Indonesian government has officially announced a new distribution method for the Free Meals Program (MBG). It will only be open on school days, which will make it work better and more efficiently. This ensures that students receive nutritious meals when they are most in need during their school hours.
On Thursday, April 2, ministers from different departments in Jakarta met to talk about how to work together better. They made the choice at that point.
Coordinating Food Minister Zulkifli Hasan says that giving out food during school breaks in the past did not go as well as it could have.
“We found that giving out meals on holidays like Eid did not work as well because students were not in school,” he said.
According to the new rule, MBG can only be given out on school days. This will make sure that the kids at school get their food right away.
The government thinks that this method will help with targeting, make logistics easier, and cut down on delivery problems.
Officials say that help for weak groups, such as women in pregnancy, breastfeeding mothers, and young children, will not change. However, students will have to introduce changes to their meal schedules under the new policy.
Decree number 52.1 from the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) states that women in pregnancy, breastfeeding mothers, and young children will still get help with their nutrition six days a week. This will continue regardless of what the school calendar says.
Officials stated that the new policy demonstrates a more focused and fact-based approach to programs for the public good.
The government wants to get the most out of the program by giving it to schools. The initiative will also ensure accountability and proper resource utilization.
The MBG program is part of a bigger national effort to make sure everyone has enough food and to improve nutrition. It especially focuses on children and other groups that are at risk.
Many times, officials have said that it is essential to keep the program’s quality. This principle holds true while introducing changes to how it works in the real world.
The change shows that the government is open to changing its policies based on what evaluations show. They also stress the need to closely monitor the new system to ensure it functions properly.
People are calling on the government to work closely with schools and local governments. This will help ensure the policy is implemented effectively.
Officials have also urged the public to comprehend that the changes aim to enhance the program. They emphasize that it will not diminish its overall benefits.
The change is a big step toward improving one of Indonesia’s most important programs for helping people. It strikes a balance between making it easier to run and the goal of improving the health and nutrition of the people in the country.
