Japan, Thekabarnews.com – Hiromichi Tanigawa, chairman of the Fukuoka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and head of Nishi-Nippon Financial Holdings, gave a harsh speech about the U.S. at a New Year’s party in Fukuoka on January 6. Donald Trump is the president. He called some of Trump’s initiatives irresponsible. Furthermore, he said that his way of leading was like that of a “dictator.”
Tanigawa compared Trump’s leadership style to that of a “dictator.” He chastised him for making several decisions on his own about trade, security, and domestic issues. He thinks these policies do not make sense and hurt long-standing international systems. For instance, the free trade framework that was set up after World War II.
He said that the U.S. has acted unpredictably and aggressively in the past. Examples include when it tried to kidnap President Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela and bombed Iran last year.
Tanigawa also said he was worried about Trump’s trade and tariff policies. He explained that they have hurt decades of economic collaboration. He said that Trump’s actions have, in some cases, limited academic freedom. They have weakened the checks and balances that exist in the United States.
He also said he was worried about how Trump was managing global problems, like the battles in Ukraine and the Middle East. Tanigawa said that the way the United States has acted has made things worse between Europe and the US. Additionally, the presidency has made the world less stable.
Tanigawa’s harsh criticism got a lot of attention because he is a well-known businessperson in Japan. This was not common in official addresses in the industry. These comments have led to a wider worldwide discussion. Even in Japan, the discussions focus on U.S. foreign policy activities like the military operation in Venezuela and changes in trade policies.
