Pontianak, Thekabarnews.com—The Regional Secretary (Sekda) of West Kalimantan Province, Harisson, hosted a Ramadan iftar gathering at his official residence. He held the event with the Regional Board of the Korps Alumni HMI (MW KAHMI) West Kalimantan, Saturday, February 21.
Harisson and his family went to the event and greeted alumni members in a friendly and casual way. The event was both a social gathering and a time for spiritual reflection during the holy month of Ramadan.
Harisson told the people who were there to use Ramadan as a time to strengthen their faith and devotion.
“Let us use this Ramadan to strengthen our faith and devotion to Allah ﷻ,” he said.
Aside from the religious aspect, Harisson stressed the strategic importance of KAHMI as a way for former members of the Association of Islamic Students (HMI) to come together. He said these events help members reconnect.
Harrison says that silaturahmi means more than just getting together for a meal. In addition, he connected the event to HMI’s Fundamental Values of Struggle (NDP). This value system lays out the basic rules for how people should act toward their God. It also defines how they should act toward each other.
“At events like this, we reaffirm and put into action the core values of HMI’s struggle,” Harisson said.
He also said that HMI members, who are known for being ethical leaders, need to put these values into action in the community. Moreover, he stated that informal discussions during iftar serve as an effective means to align everyone’s perspective. He also said these moments enhance their dedication to the group.
Harrison also thanked MW KAHMI West Kalimantan for being so involved. He said that the group’s work had helped people in the province become more religiously literate. Moreover, it strengthened them in their faith.
“We really appreciate the active role of MW KAHMI West Kalimantan in making people more aware of and devoted to their religion,” he stated.
People who watch the event see it as part of a larger effort to get government officials and community groups to work together during Ramadan. This, in turn, strengthens both spiritual values and social bonds in West Kalimantan.
