Jakarta, Thekabarnews.com—The Indonesian government has announced plans to purchase 105,000 commercial vehicles from India. This is to facilitate the launch of the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives (KDKMP) program. The government owns PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara. This company will buy the cars.
The order is for 35,000 Mahindra Scorpio pickups, 35,000 Tata Ultra T.7 light trucks, and 35,000 Tata Yodha pickups. People say that the whole thing will cost about Rp24.66 trillion.
Company officials said that the vehicles will make it easier to get basic goods, farm products, and cooperative service needs to rural areas. These areas are in different parts of the country. In addition, several units in Completely Built Up (CBU) condition have reportedly made it to Indonesia.
The purchase aims to speed up the supply chain and help rural people communicate. All the villages will benefit from this in terms of their economies. The government says that the plan is a beneficial way to give local cooperatives more power. It will also make it easier for people who live far away to get what they need.
But people who work in the national auto industry and lawmakers have spoken out against the idea of letting in many cars. A deputy chair of Commission VII of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) says that before you buy something big like this, you should carefully think about the rules for using Domestic Goods Usage Intensification (P3DN). He says you should also consider the local content requirement (TKDN). The law must enforce these rules.
Experts say that Indonesia has a lot of room to make commercial vehicles. This is because there are already companies there that do. Furthermore, some people have said that the transaction could hurt the growth of jobs and the national automotive industry.
People who support the purchase say that the partnership will make it much easier for people to get things and help rural economies work together. On the other hand, people who oppose the policy think it will hinder business growth and compromise safety.
Many people are discussing the vehicle procurement program because it will affect the country’s overall economy and rural development. The government has allocated tens of trillions of rupiah for the program. This argument is part of a bigger fight about how to make the country’s factories better. It is also about how to speed up economic programs.
