Jakarta, Thekabarnews.com—Indonesia has now officially implemented the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr, marking its commencement. This is how they are keeping public services running. As a result, traffic moves more smoothly during the holidays.
The government made this law to make it easier for people to get around on busy main roads during the yearly mudik (homecoming) and return trips. Officials also want to make sure that businesses and public services are open and working well during the holidays.
Administrative and Bureaucratic Reforms (PAN-RB) Minister Rini Widyantini sent Circular Letter No. 2/2026 to explain the policy. Civil servants (ASN) can work from home for five days. Specifically, they get two days before Eid and three days after it.
WFA for ASN during Eid 2026 is as follows:
- March 16 and 17
- Wednesday, March 25
- Thursday, March 26
- Friday, March 27
But the policy doesn’t cover all government workers. To keep public services running smoothly, people who work in important fields like healthcare, transportation, security, and other strategic services need to continue doing their jobs the same way.
The government has also told businesses to set up WFA systems like this one in case more people travel before and after Eid. Officials believe that this flexible work model will help businesses stay open. Moreover, it will help them get more done and boost the economy in the first quarter of 2026.
The Manpower Ministry will send letters to the governors, regents, and mayors of each state to explain the technical rules that the private sector must follow in more detail.
The State Secretary says that March 21 and 22 will be national holidays for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri. Everyone gets a break from March 20 to March 24, 2026.
Here is the official Eid holiday schedule for 2026:
- The trip will take place on March 20.
- Everyone gets the day off on March 21.
- Everyone in the country will have a day off on March 22.
- Everyone has the day off on March 23. Joint leave begins on Tuesday, March 24.
The WFA policy is what the government says it will do to keep the economy stable. Additionally, it is meant to keep the buses running during one of Indonesia’s busiest travel times.
