Jakarta, Thekabarnews.com—Nabila Ellisa, an Indonesian singer, has officially published her first EP, “GERD (Galau Emosional Rasa Diri),” which represents a new step in her musical career. Through five tracks, the album explores heartbreak, loss, and emotions left unsaid that continue to echo over time.

The term “GERD” originates from a health condition frequently associated with stress. Nabila uses the metaphor to show how emotional pain can manifest itself in the body through tightness in the chest, discomfort, and restlessness. She writes songs with honest words and genuine melodies that many people may relate to.

“I wanted to add more songs to my pop collection. People know I began in Dangdut, but I also really love pop. I picked the word “GERD” because emotional stress, especially after a breakup, can hurt both your mind and body. I know what it is like,” Nabila said.

“Tanyaku,” the EP’s main song, is a sad love ballad about two people who love each other profoundly but cannot be together because they are different. The song embraces acceptance while expressing a quiet hope that love separated in this world will reunite in heaven.

Songwriter Ilyas Bachtiar wrote the song years ago when he was in college. In early 2025, he went back to it and improved it, working with music arranger Joel Christian to give it a sad Korean-style pop ballad vibe. Ilyas began recording in mid-2025, drawing inspiration from emotional Korean ballads for his songwriting style.

The EP features delicate arrangements that accentuate Nabila’s voice. The songs all have something in common, telling a story of suffering, acceptance, and healing.

Nabila wants people who listen to GERD to feel less alone in their problems. The initiative is both a friend to people who are going through a breakup and a reminder that emotional pain is a normal part of life.
