Pontianak, Thekabarnews.com—The Pontianak City Administration has given the authorized go-ahead for a fireworks show to mark the Lunar New Year 2577. This is the return of one of the most popular cultural events in the City of the Equator (Pontianak). The government has picked Gajah Mada Street as the only place to hold the celebrations.
The Pontianak City Administration made this choice to show that they wanted to respect the cultural traditions of the Chinese-Indonesian minority. At the same time, they want to keep the public safe and peaceful. Officials say that a single plan will make things safer, help with traffic, and make it easier to respond to emergencies. In addition, people have always come in huge numbers to celebrate the Lunar New Year in Pontianak.
Pontianak Mayor Edi Rusdi Kamtono said that the permit had clear limits. “We want the party to be safe, organized, and comfortable for everyone,” he said, Thursday, February 5. Edi Kamtono stated that centralizing the fireworks will simplify the police’s monitoring of the event.
The Pontianak City Administration has instructed those wishing to celebrate or view the fireworks to confine their activities to the designated area. They don’t want fireworks shows outside of Gajah Mada Street. This is because they could cause traffic jams, safety problems, and noise in neighborhoods.
“Anyone who is celebrating outside of the main area should go to Gajah Mada Street. The event itself will be short, lasting only one to two hours on New Year’s Eve,” Edi Kamtono said.
Pontianak Administration has worked with police and other groups to make sure that there are enough safety measures in place for the whole festival. They will also change the traffic plans to make room for the extra people. Furthermore, there will be officers on duty to watch over cars and make sure people are safe.
People in the area are happy about the news because they think it is a fair way to keep people safe while still letting them express themselves culturally. Gajah Mada Street has always been the heart of Lunar New Year celebrations in Pontianak. It is well-known because of its lively atmosphere, decorations, and community events.
The Pontianak City Administration wants the fireworks for this year’s Lunar New Year to be fun and not cause any trouble. They want to keep Pontianak’s reputation as a city that welcomes diversity and cultural harmony. Therefore, they have clear rules and a central plan.
