Jakarta, Thekabarnews.com—Gerindra party executive and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, has said that national unity is very necessary for President Prabowo Subianto’s government to be successful.
Dasco called on groups in civil society to work together and support the government’s plans.
On Friday, March 6, he made these remarks in Jakarta. Raffi Ahmad, a famous person and business entrepreneur in Indonesia, posted the comments on social media. This led to more people debating them.
“We need more than just words; we need concrete contributions and national unity. That is what we want from our friends in civil society,” Dasco remarked.
He argues that the government and civil society need to work together extremely well. They must do this to make sure that national development projects work properly. As a result, these projects can serve as many people as they can. This will improve overall community well-being and encourage a bond of solidarity among citizens.
Dasco also said he was worried about what he called the rising lack of cohesion among people in civic society. He believes this lack of cohesion undermines collaborative efforts essential for national development projects. Additionally, he claimed that social media platforms are becoming less and less places for useful conversations. This contributes to the rising lack of cohesion among people in civic society.
They are also becoming more and more grounds for bitter arguments. This exacerbates the divisions within civic society and hinders efforts to foster understanding and collaboration among diverse groups.
“Our civic society is not one. People say awful things about each other and look at government policy in ways that hurt them, which contributes to the deterioration of constructive dialogue and undermines national unity. This leads to increased polarization and a lack of trust among citizens. What I see on social media today is not good,” he stated.
The senior Gerindra politician added that the Prabowo administration needs to uphold its commitments to the people of Indonesia. He also stated that national unity is still the most important thing it has.
Dasco noted that it is necessary for people to speak their minds, but they should do so in a way that is respectful and useful. This approach fosters constructive dialogue and strengthens national unity. He believed that criticism should originate from a desire to work together and care about the country’s future.
“President Prabowo only needs one thing: national unity, whether it is in criticism, ideas, or real contributions,” he said.
Dasco also requested the public and civil society groups to allow the new government time to put its ideas into action. He asked them to let the government show how well its ideas work.
He was sure that the country would be better off in the long term if the people stayed united and trusted each other.
“How long will civil society offer Prabowo national unity so he can uphold his promises to make people’s lives better?” Dasco said.
People are arguing that demands for unity and constructive public engagement are becoming more and more crucial. This is especially important as the government seeks to set up diverse initiatives for economic and social growth, which can help bridge the gaps created by these divisions and disparities. These efforts aim to make life better for Indonesians.
These needs are urgent in light of the challenges posed by political divisions and economic disparities. These divisions can hinder progress and exacerbate social tensions if not addressed through collaborative efforts and inclusive policies.
