Bening Luxury store sealed over alleged tax and customs violations

Jakarta, Thekabarnews.com—The Directorate General of Taxes and the Taxation Directorate General (DJP) under the Finance Ministry sealed Bening Luxury Store in Pluit, North Jakarta, on February 20.

The government shut it down because it was not following the rules for customs and taxes, especially government-borne value-added tax (PPN DTP) and the income tax (PPh). In addition, officials said they carried out the action as part of a plan to ensure the state collects taxes in accordance with the rules.

The police blocked off the area so they could look into it more, according to the chief of intelligence at the Jakarta customs office, Nugroho Arief Darmawan. 

“We locked it up to make the examination process more thorough,” Nugroho said.

The government was clear that the investigation is only a small part of a larger plan to make sure people follow tax and customs rules and not just punish them. Moreover, officials emphasized that authorities must closely monitor financial activities to safeguard state revenue. Such monitoring is especially important in high-value sectors.
