Texas, Thekabarnews.com—A mother from Texas has made news across the world again by breaking a new world record for giving free breast milk. Guinness World Records says that Alyse Ogletree officially smashed her record by giving away an amazing 2,645.58 liters of breast milk.
Ogletree already broke a record in 2014 with 1,569.79 liters. She continued going, though, and almost attained her goal of doubling it. Her gifts have helped feed more than 350,000 ill and premature newborns, many of whom need donor milk to keep alive.
The Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas got most of her milk. One liter may feed about 11 infants. Breast milk can considerably minimize the risk of serious illnesses and difficulties in babies who are born too early.
Ogletree started giving out her spare milk in 2010 when she realized she was making more than her child required. Instead of tossing away the surplus, she decided to aid other families in need. She pumped milk every three hours, even at night, for years.
She has to be able to follow the rules and stay on track. Pumping all the time made it difficult to sleep and be comfortable. Ogletree kept going, even when it was difficult, since she understood that her gifts could save the lives of vulnerable newborns.
Experts in health claim that donor breast milk is particularly helpful in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), especially for kids who were born too early. Ogletree’s record-breaking donation shows how much one person can accomplish to improve healthcare in their community.
Getting a Guinness World Record is not the only thing Ogletree has done that has had a huge impact. Her story shows that the little things you do every day may make a significant difference for thousands of families.
