Jakarta, Thekabarnews.com—Many people noticed when Permadi Arya, a social media influencer known as Abu Janda, got into a confrontation with other panelists on a live talk show on Indonesian TV.
The incident occurred during a live broadcast of the talk show “Rakyat Bersuara” on iNews TV, Tuesday, March 10.
Journalist Aiman Witjaksono hosted the show. Many famous people discussed Indonesia’s history of diplomacy and how it affects Palestine.
Muhammad Husein, a pro-Palestinian activist; Ulta Levenia, an expert on presidential staff; Feri Amsari, an expert on constitutional law; Ferry Latuhihin, an economist; Ikrar Nusa Bhakti, the former Indonesian ambassador to Tunisia; and Boni Hargens, a political analyst, all took part in the discussion.
Things grew even worse when people brought up allegations from the past. Specifically, people proposed that other countries had aided Indonesia in achieving its freedom.
During the discussion, Abu Janda kept stressing that it was false to claim that Palestinians agreed to Indonesia’s independence.
Quickly, other panelists disagreed. Records from the past and official pronouncements revealed the intertwined relationship between the two countries throughout Indonesia’s early war for independence, the panelists argued. During that critical period, these records included mutual support and the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Abu Janda came in and spoke nasty things to several of the people who were discussing when the brawl got worse.
Moderator Aiman Witjaksono immediately addressed the situation, stating that the language was inappropriate for a public discussion, especially during a live broadcast.
He halted the debate. Furthermore, he firmly instructed Abu Janda to leave the studio.
“If you cannot maintain order, please leave,” Aiman said during the broadcast, emphasizing the need to keep the discussion respectful.
After the incident went viral on social media, discussions began about the appropriate standards for public speeches on TV.
