She performed a long-term study that indicated that women who drink around three small cups of coffee a day (about 315 mg of caffeine) tend to age more healthily.
The study examined data gathered over 30 years from approximately 50,000 middle-aged women. The results indicate that regular coffee use in modest quantities may enhance physical strength, mental concentration, and psychological well-being as women age.
The study defined healthy aging as attaining the age of 70 or older while preserving optimal physical, cognitive, and behavioral health. It also means staying devoid of 11 significant chronic diseases. Heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and cancer are some of these.
“This discovery shows that caffeinated coffee, rather than tea or decaffeinated coffee, may assist in encouraging aging patterns that keep both mental and physical function in women,” Mahdavi said, as quoted in Time Magazine.
Mahdavi, on the other hand, stressed that drinking coffee alone will not lead to premature aging. She said that lifestyle choices have a much bigger impact on long-term health consequences.
“Regular exercise, a balanced and healthy diet, and not smoking are still important parts of healthy aging,” she remarked.
